A brief history of Five Guys

Five Guys is owned and operated by the Murrell family. Jerry Murrell and his sons – Jim, Chad, Matt, and Ben are the five guys who gave the restaurant its name. Tyler, Jerry’s fifth son joined them and now the restaurant chain is run by these five brothers. This restaurant chain didn’t become the big restaurant chain we know today.

Its first restaurant was opened in 1986. It had its own fair share of ups and downs at the beginning but it soon hit the ground running, starting franchising in 2003. In 2010 and 2011, it became the fastest growing restaurant chain in the US. During this period, its sales increase was approximately 33%.

Current position
