History
This chain of restaurants that now has over 300 outlets in 9 different countries and several states within America was founded in 2007 by restaurant veterans. It started out as an outlet serving smashed burgers but soon became successful leading to expansions in other areas. Its original burger was made over high heat in a flattop grill which ensures it retained its flavor thereby appeasing many customers and contributing majorly to the initial growth. Four years after opening the first restaurant,
Smashburger already had over 100 entities in different places with rumors of franchise proposals being in place.
By 2013, the number had already increased to 170 locations with international ones being in areas like Kuwait and Bahrain among others. Three years later, Smashburger had expanded to 365 locations and by the next year, the number had increased to 380. Although some of these outlets were acquired through franchising, the majority belongs to the Smashburger.
