Brief history

Qdoba was founded by Anthony Miller and Robert Hauser in 1995. Having studied at the Culinary Institute of America and worked at Le Cirque restaurant, Hauser found it easy to develop the recipes for the young Qdoba restaurant. He continued making the recipes better and better with time and soon, the restaurant started receiving huge flocks of people. In fact, at some point, the lines would be so long that some customers would wait for about 10 minutes to be served.

Miller and Hauser were quick to notice this growth and they started the franchising business in 1998. The franchising business was a great success, and in just a year, the restaurant had 49 locations in various states. Consecutive lawsuits forced the restaurant to change its name three times between 1995 and 2015. Initially, its name was Zuma Fresh Mexican Grill. It changed to Z-Teca Mexican Grill after just two years then to Qdoba Mexican Grill after 16 years. Today, it is called Qdoba Mexican Eats or simply Qdoba.

Areas Served

Since its inception, Qdoba has had a trajectory of continuous growth and development. Apart from the high-quality meals, it is clear that people continued loving Qdoba menu prices and the overall hospitability, leading to exponential growth. The restaurant’s major locations are in the United States and Canada. As of 2017, it had 729 locations. It has some locations on college campuses, something that we have not seen with other fast-casual restaurants.
Qdoba’s menu

As noted earlier, Qdoba’s menu is dominated by finger-licking Mexican dishes. Its major menu items include the Mexican gumbo, tortilla soup, nachos, taco salad, tacos, quesadillas, and burritos. These meals are made of fresh and high-quality ingredients. There is a separate nutrition guide to give you more information on each meal. The quality of the menu can well be summarized in the restaurant’s recent slogan, “We Live Food.”

Qdoba menu prices

If you love Qdoba menu, you will love its prices too. They have always represented the real cost of food. In 2014, Qdoba menu prices were adjusted to reflect the type of protein and the extras provided in each meal. However, there was an insignificant increase in the prices, and most people didn’t feel it. The only people who were affected were those who wanted to take light meals.

Overall verdict

If you have been to any of Qdoba restaurants, you will agree with me that it offers more than you would ask for. Indeed, quick service and high-quality meals are what defines your experience at each of Qdoba restaurants. The menu items are everything that one would wish to have. Customers can also create their own meals using the customizable entrées that are given to them when they walk into the restaurant. The menu prices also deserve an honorable mention for being pocket-friendly at a time when saving a coin or two is a step in the right direction.
