Bojangles was founded by Richard Thomas and Jack Fulk in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1977. However, it was acquired by Horn and Hardart in 1981. The chain grew to over 300 locations till 1990 when it was once again acquired by a businessman who was a seasoned player in the American fast food restaurant segment. In the next 20 years, the ownership of the company changed many times but it continued to grow throughout the entire period, with footprints in 11 states. Though it has added many new items to its menu such as those prepared with boneless chicken, Bojangles has not brought any drastic change in its menu over the years.
