Food was delicious! If you’re like me and love spicy food, then the medium is not spicy at all. Definitely recommend the hot. Very small portion of rice though. Still delicious 🙂
My main complaint is that I order the chicken korma at a “hot” spice level and it was mild and bland. Otherwise, the delivery was on time, and the naan and the samosas were very good.
Food took a pretty long time to arrive (nothing crazy, but definitely past the tail end of the delivery window) but everything was delicious. The Malai Kofta was especially good.
Arguably best Indian around, and priced quite high ($80 feeds two people two nice meals each) but i put up with that bc the food is dependable. Some relatively rare dishes, like fish curry. Occasionally very long delivery times, but they say so and manage to deliver when they said
The food quality has really gone down in the past month. The vegetables in the tikka masala were raw and the “curry” was a thick paste. Shalimar was my go-to Indian restaurant, but I think I’ll be exploring other options. Not worth the expense.
Food used to be extremely delicious but it’s service and food quality is degrading day after day. I was charged 3 times for my order yesterday and no order was placed. I had to pay again at the end. The order arrived very very late. We had lost our appetite by the time our food arrived. This wasn’t what I expected from a restaurant like Shalimar.
Shalimar used to be my favorite restaurant. Their Chicken Tikka Masala changed my life, but something has changed and it’s not the creamy, spicy, tomato-y goodness. It was not creamy, the sauce it was kind of gritty and and not the flavor I remember, and now there are peppers and there didn’t used be. Taste of India is now my place. It was fun Shalimar.
I’m not usually one to complain about portions, or even spend time leaving reviews, but this was such a negative experience that I feel compelled to warn others. Given the prices, the portions were unacceptably small. To start, the garlic naan was $3, which included one small piece. The entries were $18 each, for what amounted to mayyyyyybe a single serving. I don’t know how they can get away calling this an entree. The portions were half of what they should have been. One star.
Not the restaurant’s fault at all. Took a risk and ordered the buffet option, figuring that the driver could handle some basic instructions, and hoping they had at least had Indian before. Wrong on both counts, but I knew I was betting everything on someone having a basic level of competence, so it was a long shot to begin with. Food was sloshed all over, not what I requested, and was a huge mess. Delicious though, just know if you ask someone else to get stuff from a buffet, they won’t get it right, faith in humanity stays right where it is, somewhere in the marianas trench.
Prompt delivery. My entree was a bit bland (I added a ton of red pepper and some salt to get it to what I consider “medium”. But then it was delicious. Pistachio ice cream hit the spot although I was expecting a little more for the price.
I am super grateful to have them open during this troubling time. We probably order from them at least once or twice a week. I always order medium hot. Not quite sure sometimes it’s a little hot sometimes it’s just right. Always very tasty.
It was delicious, but rather pricey for the quantity received. Should of had three times the rice for three dinners ordered. Plus I ordered two garlic naan at $2.99 each and only got one. $6.00 was a bit much for a piece of bread. However, not sure if this all was normal or just because of the current times we are in. But the food we got was outstanding and will try it again. Unfortunately it will be my last if it is the same. Simply way too expensive for the quantity and I’m not cheap. I’ve spent $112 on my meal alone from another delivery. So it simply is based on value, quality, and service. Otherwise 5 stars.
Ordered a salad for my grandfather who needed a light meal before his surgery – they gave us a couple of spinach leafs. One curry was lacking flavor, and the veggie samosas tasted bland, definitely have had better, cumin was overpowering and other flavors weren’t there. Won’t be ordering from here again.
I think the food flavor is great. However, extremely over priced. $2.99 for a half piece of naan bread, $6 for a one whole piece of garlic naan, are you kidding me! The chicken in the dishes are about 3-4 cubes. and the meal delivered in the neighborhood of $80 and no delivery fee, so similar dining in as far as price, tax and tip. Again great flavor, quality consistency, I have ordered twice but probably try other restaurants as I am told there are other great Indian food restaurants that are somewhat cheaper. BTW, I am a retired chef/owner and national food consultant so I fully understand quality, and food cost so it not that I’m cheap or one not in the know. I will say this though, I will try visiting the restaurant and compare both the quantities and price. But if there are significant differences I will call that out.
The restaurant was good, the grubhub experience was bad. During the original estimated arrival time the driver was still in a different city. I would think grubhub should say there is no drivers available rather then give the delivery to a driver in a different city and have my order sit for almost an hour.
I dream about their vegetarian samosas–I could have meal after meal of just those samosas….every vegetarian dish has been delicious, love the mango lassi…The staff has always been professional and pleasant.
The food was yummy, but on the verge of being cold. The delivery was an hour later than estimated. It even said that my food had been delivered 40 minutes before it was. Nevertheless, I will probably order again because it’s one of the few Indian restaurants that deliver to my area.
The food was delicious, and I appreciated that they were able to cook one of their vegetarian dishes vegan. I will definitely order from them again!
