  1. Lai Lai is usually a great restaurant and have ordered from there a lot. Last night’s wasn’t as good (see more detailed comment in response to “was the food good”) so think it may have been an off night.

  4. Lai Lai is my daughters favorite restaurant. We have tried all the Chinese restaurants in the area! Lai Lai wins for best chicken fried rice. We are frequent flyers at the restaurant because it’s so good!! Fin the gentlemen who runs the restaurant always seems to have a smile on his face!! He is so accommodating and helpful.

  5. The food is good there is a bit of blandness to the sauces though. But for the most part the food is really good. I have a hard time telling the difference between which one is general tso’s and which one is orange chicken, the sauces are very similar

  6. Food was fantastic as always! Asked for spicy and was not disappointed. Lai Lai is the best. Our driver Sarah was also very nice and prompt, highly satisfied with the delivery.

  7. Food was very hot like it came straight from being cooked. Tasty too. There was a lot of sauce spilled on the bottom of the bag however making it very messy.

  8. Good egg rolls. Should have an option to forgo plasticware and to select which condiments we want. It is wasteful to send things customers may not need or want.

  9. The food is not good . I don’t get how they have the ratings they have. The chicken sucked, the hot & sour soup sucked.. spring roll and chicken egg rolls tasted like they were cooked on old oil. The crab Rangoon’s were not bad but they are basically cream cheese Rangoon’s. But the meal itself was not worth it.

  10. The service was great. Everything was packaged well and they followed the requests I added. The driver was wonderful. The food was nothing to write home about. Fried rice needs more veggies and the sweet and sour sauce was more sweet than sour. Also, they put raw peppers and onion on top of the chicken? Weird. Not very appetizing.

  11. The entire order had been on its side during the drive and the sauces were intermingled between all the different items and making the resulting order inedible. Really pissed at both the restaurant and the driver for such inconsiderate and boneheaded actions.

  12. Delivery was absolutely terrible. Driver delivered to different apartment despite turn by turn directions in my order to reach my home. He left the food on the ground outside another house and I only got my food because I called when the Grubhub app flipped to delivered and I hadn’t had a knock on my door. I called and he told me to open my door…it was not there. He drove back to the other apartment to get my food and then I had to give him directions to get to my apartment. When he came up with the food he said it was a good thing I called because, “one or two more minutes and someone else would’ve had your food.” I was beyond frustrated. I’ve never had a driver not even call if they couldn’t find the address. He told me the numbers didn’t match but he just left it. Food was over an hour late. Food was good which is the only reason I gave any stars, but would’ve been better if it was hotter. Likely sitting on the ground in the 30 degree weather stole a lot of my heat. Driver also didn’t not match driver listed on the app.

  13. Delivery was fast and the food was well packaged and what I ordered, but it was probably the least seasoned Chinese food I’d ever had, it really wasn’t enjoyable for me at all. Bland, sitting in water, I’m not too picky when it comes to food so this is a rare moment where I really regret using my money this.

  14. If you’re looking for Chinese food for a “Midwestern palate” then this is the right place for you, but otherwise it’s not what I was looking for. I ordered everything spicy, everything szechuan style and what arrived was more like generic meat stir fried with generic vegetables (baby corn? cabbage? In Chinese food?) in generic sauce – not spicy at all. The Mapo tofu (which is the best test of a Chinese restaurant) had a weak sauce and the tofu was extra firm. Maybe they should rename the restaurant Lao Wai ?

  15. The delivery came about 10 minutes EARLIER. There was a call from an Illinois phone number. I ignored it because Idk the number. But it kept calling until when I answered the 5th call. The deliver had to leave my food order by the door (due to the Coronavirus safety precaution)- but he NEVER LEFT UNTIL I opened the door to pick it up from the front porch. The food was good. I requested for low sodium and it was fulfilled.

  16. Yet to find a Chinese place in Ypsi I like. Still searching. The “walnuts” in my walnut shrimp were pecans, the almond chicken my fiancee got looked like it was covered in mucus (nuts were also pecans lol), only thing decent were the crab cheese but I’ve had better at almost every other restaurant. Good prices and portions, but just not for me. I’ll likely never eat here again.

  17. The crab Rangoon delish, not a fan of the egg rolls. I ordered sesame chicken and I think it was orange chicken. The beef was very tender. Fried rice had no vegetables and no egg, so that was strange. Happy they were open so I didn’t have to cook. I definitely had plenty of leftovers.

  18. I ordered from here tonight due to amount of 5 star reviews on how good the food/delivery was from this restaurant. The food was good but not worthy of 5 stars in my opinion. Delivery was as expected, they don’t go out of there way for special containers or anything.

  19. It was covid19 season – social distancing was the Norm. When I came to pick up my food – they pointed to me where the bag was / which was on the other table far from the register. Very good following CDC guidelines – even inside their establishment. Oh by the way, the food was good too.

  20. The driver was very nice and helpful. The food was not packaged well and was spilling all in three plastic bag. The packing was styrofoam, not sealed. A mess. The food was good, not great. Would think twice before ordering takeout/delivery from Lai Lai.

  21. The chicken was fresh and was perfectly breaded. My food arrived timely. There was some confusion with the delivery driver. I had asked for my meal to be put on the back porch and he just could not seem to understand for some reason. All was well though.

  22. The order was on time, well packaged, driver courteous and respected no-contact requested. I have 4 starts because the food was good but not terrific. A couple of the dishes where too salty and the other flavors didn’t stand out as much as I thought they should. Still, I was satisfied and will order again. My order stretched out for three meals, so it was worth the $.

  23. I love the food from Lai Lai, but last 2 times I ordered they removed items without an explanation or chance to substitute. That kind of bugs me. I also got mushrooms in one of the dishes I ordered and I told them “no mushrooms” (I just really hate mushrooms!) For the most part I’m happy with them, and will order again.
