Have eaten in this restaurant before, as well as ordered for carry-out. The “soul food” definitely satisfies a craving, and is mouth-watering. My only suggestion is that Cuppy’s go light on the salt, particularly for eaters who have issues with HBP, and wish to use their discretion in adding salt. Spices are fine. Delivery time was “right on time.”
Cuppy’s is my FAVORITE Soul Food Restaurant. My first experience of this restaurant was through GrubHub and it was DELICIOUS! It exceeded my expectations! I’ve dined in the restaurant as well and the staff are courteous, friendly, professional and I receive the best customer service. The food is delicious whether it is delivered or in house.
Steak: Dry, over cooked, cold, over-seasoned Gumbo: Tasteless Notes: 1. Gumbo, cabbage, & sweet potatoes were hot, but the steak appeared to have been cooked earlier and waited for other items. 2. Napkin/cutlery package and corn muffin in its own plastic baggy were packaged inside styrofoam plate with meal. They were damp and steamy. Ugh! 3. Styrofoam packaged meal leaked fluid inside of plastic delivery bag. Messy!
It took well over a hour for my food to be delivered. But I anticipated this, so it’s not a knock on them. Some places are just going to take longer to make the food. And drivers are not always available for delivery. The food arrived hot and was good real food. I enjoyed the meatloaf and the ribs. The spaghetti and the mac and cheese were tasty sides. They all tasted homemade and were worth the wait. I wouldn’t order the mashed potatoes. They along with the gravy tasted straight of a box. If you have the time to wait for delivery then this place is worth a shot!
The potatoes were excellent and the ribs were fabulous. The macaroni and cheese left something to be desired. I also ordered my barbecue sauce to be on the side, but the restaurant forgot to add it. However, despite that, II am pleased with the food.
Kind of disappointed today. Was looking forward to having some short ribs today. Meat not as tender as I would have liked, gravy tasted like it was store-bought, greens tasted canned, the rice was probably Uncle Ben’s or something. Seems to be a hit and miss with Cuppy’s. Chicken wings are always good. Should have stuck with those. On the upside, food was packaged well and delivered on-time, driver was courteous.
While I like Cuppy’s for dine in, I probably won’t order delivery again. Food took an hour and 20 minutes to arrive and was barely warm. The delivery time got pushed back several times. I order fried fish and okra which had no crunch because it likely had been sitting for a while. I am not sure how delivery drivers are trained but I find it inappropriate to pull up, and have me walked to the car the get my food, esp. Given that I left a tip. All in all, I definitely won’t order from cuppys again…and I will ask the driver to get out their car to give me my food!
The delivery was overall good. Cuppy’s restaurant seemed to be running slower than anticipated. Grubhub reached out after 30 minutes of running late and left me know what was happening. I appreciated that a lot. I think Cuppy’s is overwhelmed with the level of customer demand. They may need to figure out a way to streamline their service without losing the quality of their product. Otherwise, I enjoyed the meal. Thank you.
I absolutely love this restaurant. The vibe is warm and soulful. The food is delicious!! The portions are generous and the service is excellent!! I have never seen them run out of anything and if there is a question about my order, it is always asked in such a way that I can easily clarify. The staff is professional and courteous. I really enjoy the positivity of this restaurant and I hope that they are successful for many years to come.
I absolutely love this restaurant. I have been there many times and the food is always fantastic, the service excellent, the staff courteous and warm, and the energy positive. It is a restaurant where one can sit down and have a romantic date in an informal yet cultured setting. Yet it is also appropriate for family and friends for a dinner gathering of about 8 to 10 max. The restaurant features African-American Culture in an inclusive manner from the music to the art to even the shows playing on the Television screens. The servings are generous and they have all kinds of soul food classics. Check it out for yourself and I hope that you enjoy!
I just ordered beans, corn bread, and steak from this place. The beans were cooked so long they were gray, but they did kind of taste like greens. The “medium rare” steak was totally red So I tried to cook it some more on the stove. I’m going to throw out everything. It’s terrible. I could not even cut through the meat.
Cuppy’s smothered pork chops were just fabulous. They were tender and delicious, with just the right seasoning. The cabbage, macaroni, and black eye peas were so good!! This place knows how to serve it up. 5 stars all the way for this place.
Thank you Cuppy’s BEST Soulful Bistro our food was absolutely delicious it was hot, fresh, me and my family loved our soul food dinner. U guys be on point. If anyone is looking for some GOOD soul food call Cuppy’s you wont be disappointed.????
Took super long, food cooled and it was over cooked (catfish), wasn’t a perfect experience. However, food was still good and in the midst of coronavirus I can understand some issues. Round 2 will determine if I’ll eat there again.
Very glad I ordered from here today! Food was great… all better than expected. The items I ordered were very authentic… Order arrived actually HOT and perfectly on time. I definitely recommend giving this place a try when you are in the mood for some downhome tastes…
The food was so disappointing. Especially for the money spent… greens were awful, mac and cheese, awful, worst catfish I’ve ever tasted, pork chops pounded to less than a 1/4″ , dry and also bad. Spent 90 bucks on this place and I would’ve been happier burning $80 in the fireplace and getting 99 cent burgers at McDonalds. Delivery was good as usual, order was a bit wrong but I had a missed call and assuming it was the restaurant letting me know they were out of something (as bad as spam is these days, a VM makes a world of sense).
I ordered a catfish dinner for delivery. It arrived hot. The catfish was so delicious. As was the collard greens, potato salad and cabbage. I also ordered a NY strip steak dinner. My husband said the steak was very good. He also enjoyed the Mac and cheese.
I ordered Cuppy’s for my mom’s quarantine birthday dinner and they went above and beyond!! Everything I ordered arrived fresh, hot and was delicious! They sent every condiment requested and read every note in my order. I ordered catfish, fried chicken, potato salad, greens, Mac & cheese, and green beans and seriously, EVERYTHING was flawless. My mom is a tough food critic and great chef but she had NO COMPLAINTS. I love supporting small businesses but especially during this time, and Cuppy’s made that very easy. I love this place, I will certainly be back, and I recommend you try them out literally right now!!
Even though the delivery was late due to the food being cooked and the driver getting lost finding me, the food was delicious. It was exactly what I had a taste for. Great service, and the driver was courteous!
The restaurant was good, and helpful through the process of my questions and concerns, although the time it took to get my food was ridiculous. I placed the order at 6:50 and waited over an hour and a half for a driver to pickup my food, It kept getting delayed, time and time again, in total it was a two hour wait for my food, which was already sitting on a warmer for over an hour and a half, and not as fresh as it could have been, which I find unacceptable, this was my first experience with Grubhub, I’m unsure if I’ll use it again cause I feel this issue was on grubhub’s end.
The wings tasted like they were fried then reheated for me. That’s not what I asked for. The Mac and cheese was cold and cheese not melted. Just wasn’t really good
Everything was delicious! Fresh and ready on time. The macaroni and cheese and fried chicken were our favorites. Will definitely be coming back in the future.
The Lamb Chop Ribs we’re baked and looked undercooked(I asked for the sauce on the side for this reason) and smelled like dog food and one taste I got sick. I’ve always ordered from here not sure why they stopped with pork ribs but these things were horrid! No one wants baked ribs that doesn’t smell good
We order from here about twice a month and it’s always hot and fresh! The greens are heaven and the fried chicken gets a thumbs-up from this Southern native! 13/10
