For the record: the taste of the food isn’t bad. Order was almost on time, just 3 min past the estimate. What I had the problem with was the rock (yes, actual rock: a small, 1.5cm wide pebble, like one would find inside an aquarium or parking lot) I found INSIDE my egg roll. I thought at first it was a piece of bone, which I would have been okay with… if you’re a meat-eater, this happens from time to time. However, finding a rock inside an eggroll is inexcusable. I and the restaurant are both lucky I didn’t break a tooth. If they’re making those eggrolls themselves, they need to be a lot more careful. If they’re not, they need to consider a different source for frozen eggrolls. The restaurant comped the appetizer the eggroll was a part of, but I can’t ever trust another meal from here again; this was my last one. For those of you that continue to eat here, chew softly! 🙁
Ordered sweet and sour shrimp lunch special with the egg drop soup, bbq pork spring rolls, and iced coffee. Everything tasted bad. Soup was watered down with corn in it? Fried rice it came with was trash. I also ordered a side of lo mein that wasn’t good either. Wasted money. Should have known. This place is trying to do Chinese AND Vietnamese?? No lol. They need to find something they’re really good at and specialize in only that. Food was just awful, and in the trash now.
Something happened and it took me calling after two hours to find the restaurant didn’t know they had the order. They hustled and got us great food. I called Grubhub and they made sure it got worked out. They gave me $10 of free grub. So the ball got dropped at 6:30 Friday night in Austin – I’m in a hotel. I learned if you don’t get feedback from the restaurant, don’t wait to call.
I was so disappointed by my meal. I ordered pho & spring rolls for tonight & intended to keep my general tsos chicken for tomorrow. The spring rolls were hot (poor packing) and were unremarkable, with thick, unappealing peanut sauce. The pho was odd, had an unusual aroma, and just generally wasn’t any good. So I opened up my chicken, thinking nobody has ever screwed up general tsos chicken before. The chicken’s covered with this thick gloppy sauce and there’s hardly any broccoli. Basically, the food is edible, but that’s about the best I can say about it. Vietnamese and Chinese food seem so hard to screw up and I have good meals almost everywhere I go. But Cyclo? Absolutely terrible. I will never order from them again.
The beef pho was delivered on time, but completely inedible. Noodles were all stuck together in one clump…. the only way to eat it was to basically chop it up. Not good. Broth was flavorless and meat was really fatty and low quality. Nothing more irritating than paying for food that is terrible. Won’t be ordering from here again
The restaurant forgot our order. Because it was raining we thought it was just taking some time. We called an hour later and the restaurant told us “sorry we forgot to make your order. We’ll make it right now.” They didnt give any thought to the fact we waited for over an hour and our food hadn’t even been made. The food was good but this experience left us a bit iffy about ordering from them again.
After one hour I called, they said they were working on it. After another hour I called, they said it was on the way. After another 40 minutes I called again and asked them to cancel and refund. It’s now been almost 3 hours since I ordered and it still hasn’t arrived. Sad. Hungry.
Ordered spring rolls, the chicken tasted and looked like it was old. The fu i ordered were literally delivered i pieces, the meat was still raw and sitting on top of my noodles in a to go box, causing the noodles to stain red. The noodles were stale. There was nothing pleasing about eating broth for lunch.
I think I may just have ordered the wrong thing for me. The eggplant dish, the eggplant was soggy very overcooked and the brown sauce on it was not spicy. However I had the shrimp lo mein and it was good. I had the Vietnamese egg rolls and they were good, but not what I’ve had from other Vietnamese restaurant. These just seem like regular egg rolls with a fish dipping sauce but they were good. (I like the egg rolls that are thin, with lettuce and cucumber to wrap around them.) I’ve ordered the vermicelli in the past and it was really good. I love the Vietnamese iced coffee.
Soup was cold, wings were soggy, and the sweet & sour chicken looked and tasted like it had been sitting on a buffet for 4 hours. Lettuce wraps and crab rangoon were average. Will not be ordering from here again. On a positive note, the Grubhub driver was very pleasant.
The chicken tasted off, the vegetables tasted of seafood, the hot and sour soup had no flavor and not even appealing to look at, the vegetable spring roll was meh their peanut sauce had a low flavor on the peanut. My wife and I threw it all out after a few bites. Perfect place if you want to throw away food and money. Their thia tea was good though.
We got 2 orders of beef & broccoli, combo fried rice and calamari. The calamari is not your traditional round squid. It is cut into strips, in what appears to be tempura batter. The batter wasn’t good, had little taste and it was overcooked (rubbery). The combo fried rice didn’t have enough flavor (soy possibly?) and The beef and broccoli didn’t have enough sauce and also lacked in flavor.
This restaurant was terrible! I wasted my money on disgusting tasting food. Everything was too salty to enjoy. Extremely disappointed. Will never order from this restaurant again. I have tasted better pho soup, crab rangoons, and egg rolls elsewhere.
This was a great experience! I’ve never ordered from Cyclo before but I’ll definitely do it again!! Great food! We ordered tofu spring rolls, veggie dumplings, pho, sesame tofu and everything was awesome! The driver was friendly and we got our food under time. Everything was great and I highly recommend eating here!
